Abstract. I will review recent progress in the understanding of the AdS3/CFT2 correspondence with pure NS-NS flux. I will explain the computation of the spectrum and the correlation functions of the worldsheet theory and how they are matched with the recently proposed dual CFT. I will also discuss the simplifications that occur in the tensionless limit where the background AdS3xS3xT4 is dual to the usual symmetric orbifold of T4. In this limit, the correspondence is under sufficient control to probe AdS/CFT non-perturbatively and say something about the emergence of geometry and background independence in string theory.

Abstract. In my talk I will describe a relation between the 3-manifold invariant of Costantino--Geer--Patureau-Mirand, constructed from a non-semisimple category of representations of a quantum group, and counting of BPS states in a 6d (2,0) superconformal field theory compactified on a 3-manifold with a topological twist.

Abstract The BPS sectors of supersymmetric gauge theories have underlying algebraic structures, manifesting themselves in wall-crossing phenomena, BPS/CFT correspondences, Bethe/Gauge correspondences, twisted holographies, etc. I will first explain how to construct BPS algebras for string theory on general toric Calabi-Yau threefolds, based on the crystal melting description of the BPS sectors. The resulting quiver Yangians, together with their trigonometric and elliptic versions, unify various known results and generalize them to a much larger class. Then I will discuss two applications of this construction: (1) the representations of these algebras can be described by subcrystals and give rise to new BPS counting problems; (2) these algebras can generate a large class of new Bethe/Gauge correspondences, in which the spin-chain is replaced by crystal-chains.

Abstract. Stars have the potential to be excellent dark matter detectors; dark matter could heat them up, destroy them by forming black holes, or modify heat transport. To predict when and how this might happen, we need to compute the scattering rate of dark matter inside stars. In this talk, I will describe how, for a wide range of dark matter models, this requires taking into account collective effects - that is, coherent scattering with many particles inside the star. These effects have been neglected in many previous treatments; I will show how they can enhance or suppress naive predictions for dark matter scattering rates by orders of magnitude. Calculations can be performed systematically by computing in-medium effective propagators, using the apparatus of thermal field theory.

Abstract. In this talk, I will discuss subleading corrections to the large-N partition functions of 3d SCFTs of class R, obtained from wrapping M5-branes on certain 3-manifolds. The corrections are obtained in a holographic setting by considering higher-derivative terms in the bulk 4d gauged supergravity theory. The framework can be used to study the 3d-3d correspondence relating the partition functions of class R theories to topological invariants in Chern-Simons theory on the wrapped 3-manifolds. This higher-derivative logic can also be extended to five bulk dimensions, where we use it to derive subleading corrections to the central charges of 4d N=2 SCFTs. Finally, I will discuss the details of these corrections for the black string, and the corrected holographic RG flow across dimensions.

Abstract. The main objective of the cosmological bootstrap program is to derive cosmological correlators on the boundary of a quasi-dS space from basic principles such as unitarity and analyticity. In this talk we show how to extend the reach of this program by going beyond the dS invariant setup: we adapt the bootstrap methods to situations where the inflation field has a reduced speed of sound and has sizeable couplings to additional massive fields during inflation. We leverage the cosmological optical theorem and cosmological boundary equations to find analytical expressions for sample contributions to the two- and three-point functions of the inflation field as a result of the exchange of a massive scalar. We find new shapes of non-gaussianity with novel oscillatory features in the mildly squeezed limit, which are not present in the standard cosmological collider physics signal.

Abstract. The de Sitter (dS) entropy bound gives the maximal number of e-folds that non-eternal inflation can last before violating the thermodynamical interpretation of dS space. This semiclassical argument is the analogue, for dS space, of the Black-Hole information paradox. After reviewing the techniques that have recently allowed to address successfully the latter, namely the so-called island formula, I will present their application to the to study the dS entropy bound. This calculation suggests that, at least in the toy model that I consider, the semiclassical expectation should be modified in such a way that the entropy bound might actually not be present.

Abstract. Dark Matter was discovered more than 90 years ago through its gravitational effects. It makes up 80% of the matter in our Universe and about a quarter of its present energy density. We have spent decades trying to detect it in the laboratory, but to date its microscopic origin remains mysterious. The vast majority of our theoretical and experimental effort has been devoted to the exploration of relatively heavy dark matter candidates, with masses comparable to particles that we can produce at our highest energy colliders. In this talk I will review how in the last five to ten years a new perspective has emerged in particle theory, shifting our attention to ultralight dark matter candidates, in particularly the axion. This has generated a flurry of experimental activity, with a few pioneering efforts now setting up prototypes, and new ideas appearing almost weekly on the arXiv. I will review both the theoretical appeal of these dark matter candidates and the new ideas proposed to detect them experimentally. Furthermore, ultralight dark matter is well described in the laboratory as a coherent classical field. Its detection has interesting overlaps with that of high-frequency gravitational waves.

Abstract. The decay rate of the false vacuum in scalar field theory has the form A Exp(-B). In a famous paper from 1977 Coleman laid down the theory to compute the coefficient B. In a subsequent paper with Callan, they set up the recipe to compute the pre-factor A, but did not manage to compute it explicitly. In their own words: "we are not able to obtain a closed-form expression for A; we are stymied by an obdurate functional determinant". In this talk I explain how my collaborators and I recently found such a closed-form expression for A in the thin-wall approximation.

Abstract. There is obvious utility for developing techniques to compute scattering amplitudes nonperturbatively: while currently distant targets, one can easily imagine applications to meson spectroscopy, QCD corrections to precision QED observables, Pomeron physics, the high density and far from equilibrium conditions present in heavy ion collisions, etc. Unfortunately, nonperturbative methods like the lattice or bootstrap only access partial information. In this talk, we present a method for computing the full, honest-to-goodness amplitude M(s,t) nonperturbatively using Hamiltonian data. Such data is the natural output of an old, but recently revived, technique broadly known as Hamiltonian truncation. We first answer the general question “given (approximate) eigenstates, how do you compute the S-matrix?”, and then demonstrate our method on a strongly coupled system in three dimensions. We conclude by touching upon extensions towards theories with more intricate phenomenology. Based on work done in collaboration with: Hitoshi Murayama, Francesco Riva, Jed Thompson, and Matt Walters.

Abstract. Enstrophy is an approximately conserved quantity in 2+1 dimensional non-relativistic fluids that implies an inverse energy cascade in turbulent flows. In this talk, I will present an algorithm on how to construct an enstrophy current for generic fluid flows (relativistic and non). In addition, I will show how a subset of certain horizon symmetries of 3+1 dimensional AdS black holes also leads to enstrophy conservation in the dual holographic fluid theory.

Abstract. Higgs precision measurements and resonance searches at the LHC have made sharper than ever the electroweak naturalness problem. In response, the particle physics community has begun to question symmetry-based solutions. We provide a new perspective by proposing a symmetry-based framework which does not require any fine-tuning to comply with current experimental observations. This is achieved by abandoning the additional constraint of minimality typically imposed on the structure of symmetry breaking. Single-Higgs coupling deviations of a few percent and trilinear self-coupling deviations of order one are irreducible in the natural parameter space.

Abstract. I begin by a brief review on the scale invariant extension of the Standard Model in particle physics. Then I introduce a particular property in scale invariant models which is absent in other Higgs-portal scenarios. I show that to accommodate the dark matter problem and the muon g-2 anomaly one needs a scale invariant model with at least two singlet scalars plus one vector-like lepton coupled to the muon. I will point out how that particular property helps the model evade some strong constraints at colliders.

Abstract. Adiabatic subtraction is a popular method of renormalization of observables in quantum field theories on a curved spacetime. When applied to the computation of the power spectra of light fields during inflation, the standard prescriptions of adiabatic subtraction lead to results that are significantly different from the standard predictions of inflation not only in the ultraviolet but also at moderately superhorizon wavelengths. I will review those results and contrast them with the power spectra obtained using an alternative prescription for adiabatic subtraction applied to quantum field theoretical system by Dabrowski and Dunne. This latter prescription eliminates the intermediate-wavelength effects of renormalization that are found when using the standard one. Both prescriptions lead to a vanishing power spectrum for a massless, minimally coupled scalar on exact de Sitter space.

Abstract. Despite the hopes and the excellent experimental performance, the main detectors of the LHC, CMS and ATLAS, have not discovered any new elementary particle so far. The search is however ongoing. It is conceivable that new physics involves light feebly-interacting particles that are emitted in the forward direction beyond the angular reach of these detectors. There is a rich program of forward experiments which can test such models. In this talk, I will discuss the potential of FASER$\nu$ and SND@LHC experiments in searching for new physics.

Abstract. Last 50 years' developments have revealed deep relations between thermodynamics and gravity as formulated in Einstein general relativity, despite their apparent differences. These relations seem so fundamental and deep that they have prompted the idea that they may be telling us about the very nature of gravity. In this talk I review these salient features and discuss recent developments in the connection between gravity and thermodynamics. In particular, I describe how general covariance in gravity theories on spacetimes with a boundary leads to laws of thermodynamics at the boundary. We briefly discuss implications of these considerations for questions regarding black holes.
