Postdoctoral Opportunities

Position available in ICTP's Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Unit

NN2ICTP seeks applications for one postdoctoral position starting November 2021 from outstanding young scientists with a strong research record.

The position is in the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Unit. The Unit encompasses wide areas of research ranging from advanced scientific instrumentation to ionospheric modelling and space weather, from internet of things to low-cost technologies to assist lecturers and makers. A common topic of interest is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support applied research carried out by members of the Unit. We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with a research record in applied AI.

STI relies extensively on laboratories. It provides an engaging research environment with an intense programme of workshops and conferences. The postdoctoral fellow is also encouraged to participate in activities in developing countries in order to promote the mission of ICTP and to support the Unit's outreach activities.

The ICTP takes seriously its commitment to equal opportunity and diversity in hiring, and in its global mission to promote science in the developing world.

Fellows must have completed a PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Engineering prior to the start of their fellowship. Candidates who have experience in the research areas mentioned above and who obtained their PhD after 2016 will be given priority.

ICTP offers internationally competitive remuneration and a number of benefits. Appointments will be initially made for one year. Candidates should apply online.

The application deadline is 31 July 2021.
