My visit to the ICTP as a Junior Associate was very productive. It allowed me to utilize the center’s vast and up to date scientific materials that are essential for my research. The environment is very stimulating and vibrant. My visits to the ICTP always leave an inspiration and energy that pushes me to work harder to uplift the scientific situation in my country.

Junior Associates are young scientists - up to the age of 35 at the time of application - who hold a PhD and are working in developing countries. This year ICTP announces a special edition of its Associates Programme aimed at Sub-Saharan Africa. In honour of founder Abdus Salam's centennial anniversary in 2026, the Centre invites scientists working in the region (https://www.britannica.com/place/sub-Saharan-Africa) to apply for associateships that would take effect in 2027.
The Associate Programme enables them to maintain long term formal contacts with the stimulating and active scientific environment of the Centre by supporting their visits to ICTP where they are exposed to the most modern aspects of their scientific fields.
Associates are expected to play a major role in building their scientific communities, enhancing physics and mathematics education at all levels, and planning research projects related to the specific needs of their home regions.
