ICTP hosts Nigerian delegation

Representatives from Nigeria's National Universities Commission here to discuss ICTP collaboration

Three representatives from Nigeria's National Universities Commission (NUC) have spent several days at ICTP to discuss in more detail a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two organisations last year.

Under the agreement, NUC and ICTP are collaborating for the advancement and development of scientific capacity in Nigerian universities, particularly in physics, mathematics and information and communication technologies. Several activities have already taken place, such as a foundation refresher course in mathematics delivered earlier this year by ICTP mathematician Charles Chidume. Two additional training activities are planned for November: a course on wireless networking, and a roundtable on mobile navigational satellite systems, both to be held in Nigeria.
