ICTP 2.0 Campaign Updates

Officially launched on 21 October 21 2025 at the Simons Foundation International offices in New York, ICTP 2.0 sets out an ambitious vision to strengthen ICTP’s global impact. The campaign supports core initiatives such as the International Science Alliance, the International Consortium for Scientific Computing, and a wide range of opportunities for scientists through scholarships, fellowships, and associateships.

At the heart of this effort is the Simons Foundation International’s $15 million challenge grant to acquire the Adriatico Guest House and transform it into a world-class International Science Complex—an investment designed to expand ICTP’s capacity and provide a lasting home for its growing scientific community.

As detailed in ICTP's newly published Annual Report, the campaign is already generating strong momentum from supporters, including:

• a leadership gift to complete the ICTP Library renovations;
• a three-way partnership to support the acquisition of the Adriatico Guest House;
• a community challenge that led to the creation of ICTP’s first annual fund, The Butterfly Effect;
• a $4 million pledge from two donors inspired by their former professor, Edward Witten.

By 31 December 2025, €32.6 million had already been raised toward the overall €60 million goal—a powerful signal of the global community’s commitment to ICTP’s mission. The Annual Report also recognizes the many supporters whose contributions are helping turn this vision into reality.

For decades, ICTP has been a lighthouse for science—guiding and connecting talented minds across borders. Today, ICTP 2.0 is strengthening that light, ensuring it shines farther and brighter. More than an investment in infrastructure, this campaign is an investment in people, ideas, and opportunity—especially for scientists from the Global South.
