Benefactor Visits ICTP

Philanthropists James and Marilyn Simons made a surpirse visit to ICTP while they were on holiday in Italy in August. Their funding organization, the Simons Foundation, supports ICTP Associates through a grant that began in 2014. Since that time, 50 scientists from 19 countries have benefitted from the Simons Foundations' generous grants, which support scientists from developing countries who have been accepted into ICTP's Associateship Scheme to visit ICTP over a period of six years.

While at ICTP, the Simons' met with Centre scientists and Simons Associates. James Simons is a mathematician and his wife Marilyn is an economist.
