With help of ICTP, Ghanaian earns University's first PhD in Mathematics
Math to a High Degree

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Ghana has granted its first doctoral degree to Prince Koree Osei, whose studies were partially supported by fellowship grants from ICTP.

Osei, currently a lecturer at the University of Ghana, used the fellowship money to travel to the United Kingdom as part of a "sandwich" arrangement with Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, where he augmented his studies under the supervision of Professor Bernd Schroers of the Department of Mathematics. Under co-supervision with his home institute supervisor, Professor D. A. Akyeampong, Osei completed his thesis on "Non-Commutative Structures In Three Dimensional Quantum Gravity".
