Deadlines approaching for ICTP fellowships, grants

ICTP has several post-doctoral opportunities available for young scientists who want to pursue research in condensed matter or mathematics.

The Centre's Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics section (CMSP) is offering a limited number of post-doctoral positions for young CMSP theoreticians starting in autumn 2013. Appointments will be made for two years, with the possibility of renewal for one more year. Applicants should be no more than 35 years of age at the time of application and should have obtained their PhD after 2008. For more details, please read the full announcement. The application deadline is 13 January 2013.

The CMSP section also is offering a limited number of grants for short-term visits (up to one month) for scientists who want to undertake theoretical studies in the section's areas of expertise. The visiting scientists will work in close interaction with CMSP's resident staff and other visiting scientists. Scientists from developing countries are encouraged to apply, and preference will be given to requests for visits outside the summer period. More details about the grants, whose application deadline is 13 January 2013, can be found here.

Additional post-doctoral fellowship opportunities are available in ICTP's Mathematics section, which is seeking applicants for one (or possibly two) postdoctoral position from outstanding young mathematicians of any nationality. Preference will be given to applications from citizens of developing countries; women are particularly encouraged to apply. The fellowships are intended for younger mathematicians who have obtained a PhD in mathematics after 1 January 2010. They have a 12-month duration with a possibility to be renewed for a further 12 months. For more details, see the announcement.
