ICTP-AP to host its first major conference
Physics in China

ICTP's new partner institute in China, the International Center for Theoretical Physics-Asia Pacific (ICTP-AP), will be holding its first major physics conference since it was inaugurated in November 2018.

The two-day Frontiers of Fundamental Physics Conference aims to enable scholars working in related areas to meet on a single platform and exchange new ideas.  Main topics include quantum field theory and particle physics, cosmology and gravity, and mathematical physics. Among the invited speakers are ICTP Director Fernando Quevedo, Monica Guica of Saclay University, and Subir Sarkar of Oxford University. Details of the programme are available here.

ICTP-AP is a joint initiative between ICTP and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). Both partners see the new institute as a centre for top-level research, promoting scientific excellence throughout the region. The new institute will encourage the exchange of students and scientists, as well as the development of joint training and masters programmes. It is based at the UCAS campus in Beijing, and has been designated a UNESCO Category 2 institute.
