ICTP-PWF-IASBS MSc Scholarships

PWF has been working with the University of Kabul, Afghanistan since 2018, along with the PWF coordinator for the country, Baktash Amini. Through discussions that started at the full PWF programme with Afghanistan in 2018, the need for post-Bachelor’s degree training became clear: currently, there is no Master's degree in physics available in Afghanistan. PWF is pleased to offer a new scholarship scheme to provide excellent students the opportunity to continue their studies.

PWF has partnered with the Institute of Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences, IASBS, in Iran, to offer ICTP-PWF-IASBS Scholarships. The scholarship supports students from Afghanistan for 2 years, for a taught Master's degree with an MSc thesis. Mina Zarei, Assistant Professor of Physics at IASBS, is the coordinator in Iran.

The 2019-2021 Scholarship recipients were announced last year. Five excellent students were selected and are currently starting their second year of the program. You can read about the selected students here

The recipients of the 2020-2022 Scholarships will be announced soon (the application procedure was closed on 10 June 2020).
