From writing scientific articles to balancing the demands of family and career, ICTP's second Career Development Workshop for Women in Physics, which takes place from 12 to 16 October 2015, will offer practical advice as well as inspirational talks to an expected 50 participants from 26 countries.
A number of workshop sessions will be live web-streamed.
In addition, ICTP is hosting a number of related events that are open to all. These include:
- a colloquium on Tuesday 13 October at 16:30 in ICTP's Budinich Lecture Hall by Workshop lecturer and astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who discovered radio pulsars as a postdoctoral student. The title of her talk is What Pulsars do for (and to) Physics;
- immediately before the colloquium (in the same location), starting at 14:30, a screening of a short film on the awardees of the 2015 Elsevier Awards for Early-Career Women Scientists in the Developing World;
- a photo exhibit on the ICTP initiative Physics without Frontiers, showing images of an event that took place in Palestine for women physicists; the exhibit is in the reading room of ICTP's Leonardo Building.
