Mini Maker Faire, Science Picnic

ICTP welcomes makers this weekend
Mini Maker Faire, Science Picnic

Science, technology, innovation and ... lots of fun! That is the aim of two exciting events happening this weekend at ICTP. On Friday 24 May, the Centre will host a Science Picnic entitled "A Day with Leonardo", featuring scientists, experiments, and educational workshops for schools. On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May, the Mini Maker Faire will arrive, showcasing technological creativity with hundreds of inventors from different European countries.

24 May: Science Picnic, "A Day with Leonardo"

The "A Day with Leonardo" Science Picnic is a public event that, thanks to an informal and fun style, aims to promote the teaching of science through demonstrations and outdoor activities. The goal is to bring young people closer to the creative side of science, and to inspire them towards a possible professional future in this field. The event will include interactive experiments, shows, and meetings with scientists on different topics but also educational and creative workshops. The initiative, totally free, is aimed mainly at students and teachers of schools of all levels. The title of the event reflects the fact that 2019 marks 500 years since the death of Leonardo da Vinci.

The Science Picnic will be held at ICTP and will be open to the public from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday 24 May 2019. The detailed program of the day is available on the official website (http://sciencepicnic.it).

The event, which enjoys the collaboration of the ProESOF "Towards Trieste 2020 Euroscience Open Forum" and the support of the Municipality of Trieste, takes place in collaboration with numerous partners, including Trieste's main science institutions.

25 and 26 May: Trieste Mini Maker Faire returns

An event much anticipated by the Trieste public and beyond, the sixth Trieste Mini Maker Faire of technology, creativity, innovation and science returns Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2019 to the ICTP campus. More than 300 "makers" will participate. These inventors, creatives, digital artisans and enthusiasts of "doing" will exhibit their projects and their original prototypes in an interactive and highly engaging way for the public, with numerous workshops for everyone. This year's event is supported by ProESOF "Towards Trieste 2020 Euroscience Open Forum".

A detailed programme of the event is available at http://trieste.makerfaire.com.
