Trieste Mini Maker Faire a Mega Success

The second edition of the Trieste Mini Maker Faire (held on 9 and 10 May 2015), organized by ICTP in collaboration with the Immaginario Scientifico Science Museum and the local newspaper Il Piccolo ended on a high note with over 16,000 people visiting the ICTP campus, where 280 'makers' showcased their creations.

The two-day show-and-tell event saw makers from throughout the Friuli region and beyond exhibit  innovations ranging from a variety of 3D printers to robots and drones powered by open-source hardware such as Arduino microcontrollers. In addition, there were talks and seminars by makers who explained their work, hands-on activities for people of all ages, including workshops and DIY activities geared for children, games and treasure hunts.ICTP scientists and organizers Carlo Fonda and Enrique Canessa urged attendees to stay connected with science and innovation, and encouraged them to visit ICTP's SciFabLab, a space that is dedicated to nurturing the 'maker spirit'.

The complete coverage of the event is available on Il Piccolo (in Italian); the social media stream is available on the Trieste Mini Maker Faire webpage, and pictures are posted on the ICTP Facebook page.
