Condensed matter physicist Subir Sachdev to deliver Salam Distinguished Lectures 2014
Quantum Connections

To understand the properties of materials at the microscopic level has been the driving force behind the research of condensed matter physicist Subir Sachdev. Indeed, the past few decades have seen exciting developments in technologically important materials--such as high-temperature superconductors--thanks to a growing understanding of the subatomic world of quantum physics.

Sachdev will talk about these and other quantum-related topics during ICTP's  week-long Salam Distinguished Lectures, in a series titled "Theory of Quantum Matter: from Quantum Fields to Strings", which will run daily from 27 to 30 January starting at 16:30 in the ICTP Main Lecture Hall.

The lectures are free and open to the public, and will be available online as a live webstream.

Sachdev is a professor of physics at Harvard University, and was also on the physics faculty of Yale University.

The Salam Distinguished Lectures are an annual series of talks by renowned, active scientists to provide a review of important research developments as well as a visionary forward view.
